BIOGRAPHY

KIM ALDERDICE

Georgian Bay holds a special place in my heart. My paternal great grandfather worked at the Midland grain elevators and my maternal grandmother was born Oro Medonte. My family went on to spend our summers at Bluewater Beach and winters skiing at Blue Mountain. So needless to say it is no surprise I have made routes here.

The first delivery I ever saw was a calf being born! I had a childhood dream that I would deliver babies (not cows!) but I took a detour and ran my own business while earning a commerce degree in economics and finance from the University of Guelph. I then went onto graduate from McMaster’s Midwifery Program in 2015 and consolidated my midwifery skills in Mississauga before heading North. Founding Midland Midwives By The Bay with my practice partners brought my two passions together: running a small business and delivering babies. I feel very blessed to be doing exactly what I love to do and I hope this is conveyed as I interact with my colleagues, consultants and most importantly my clients.

When I am present at your birth and/or in your home in those early days postpartum please know that I feel very honoured and privileged. The uncertainty of birth work has been very humbling and often reminds me daily to stay present in the moment. It is an adventure to wake up, go on call and truly not know where the day will take me. My partner and toddler are still getting used to the on call nature of my/our life but it does allow for us to sometimes be in our pjs together all morning!
