BIOGRAPHY
SHANTI DESAUTELS-ROY
My name is Shanti (she/her) and I am a graduated midwife from Toronto Metropolitan University. I am originally from Montreal, and I have been moving around the country and the world in the past few years, travelling, working, and studying in various environments. I am passionate about social justice, holistic care, herbalism and reproductive health. Although I am from a large city, I fell in love with rural midwifery and living in the countryside. I discovered midwifery whilst travelling and felt drawn to this incredible profession that beautifully combined my passions and allowed me to do community-based work. I highly value empowering people through informed choice, body autonomy and education. I feel privileged to be able to support pregnant people and share this special journey with them. I am also very grateful for all the wonderful opportunities to grow and learn alongside them. I enjoy providing care in both French and English, and even to practice my Spanish when the opportunity presents. As a person, I am dedicated, passionate, curious and compassionate. In my free time, I love reading, cooking, hiking, riding horses, surfing, doing yoga and being outdoors. I am beyond excited to become part of the Midland Midwives by the Bay team. I look forward to meeting you!
